Set PageForm over the pages and its 220g weight holds them in place, freeing your hands while you read, eat, or enjoy a cup of tea.

There are no clips to attach or stands to position. Place it over the open book and lift it away when you're done.

A flat acrylic sheet could hold pages down, but in the designer's early experiments, it rocked over the open book like a seesaw.

PageForm's curved profile follows the shape beneath it, while the raised center settles into the book's gutter to help keep the form stable rather than rocking from side to side.

The result is a holder shaped around the object it's meant to support, rather than asking the book to conform to the tool.

Highly transparent acrylic keeps the page visible beneath it, so the thing holding your book open doesn't cover the very words, photographs, or artwork you're trying to enjoy.

Simple Was the Hard Part

PageForm began with a seemingly simple idea: shape a thick piece of transparent acrylic like an open book. Turning that idea into a product took seven years.

For years, the difficulty of forming and polishing the acrylic made production either impractical or prohibitively expensive. The breakthrough came in 2012, when Shizuoka acrylic specialist Vathtel found a way forward by rethinking the production sequence and jig setup.

Each PageForm is made in Shizuoka, Japan from thick acrylic that is individually processed and polished by craftspeople to achieve its open-book form and high transparency.

The complexity is in making it. What remains is the simplicity.
